“Since I have played and composed myself in almost every constellation and genre there is, I am very curious, how the composers express themselves, especially since the possibilities and materials nowadays seem unlimited. I am excited to experience the musical languages of the participants!”

“I find Composerslam exciting for a variety of reasons; On the one hand, new music, which is often condemned as inaccessible and alien, enables it to show its true experimental face; on the other hand, it activates the audience and creates interactive quality. I’m happy to be there!”

“I have been participating in Composer Slams since the very beginning and I’m absolutely stoked about the idea of making a pan european version of it. Composer slams are a great way to present your music to people whose paths you might never have crossed. It is the world’s best composition competition that isn’t a competition at all.”

“So curious! I truly hope loads of people from all over europe will feel encouraged to apply for this extraordinary contemporary music platform!”

“It all began when I visited a poetry slam in 2011 for the first time. I was thrilled with the way the audience participated at the slam so I wanted this level of engagement and excitement for modern compositions and introduce contemporary composers in a different way — not just in concert halls but to different venues and different audiences.

Since its first edition in 2013 the Composer Slam developed and took stage in more and more venues and festivals throughout Germany. I am really excited about the Orchester im Treppenhaus bringing the Composer Slam to an international level in the Composer Slam EM. A huge next step!”
